Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (ACBET) is organized by PTC to implement the PTC policies, procedures, criteria, guidelines and standards for engineering programs:
- establishes the annual accreditation plan and make sure that this is effectively implemented.
- approves the appointment of Program Evaluation Teams (PET);
- receives the accreditation evaluation report from EAC on engineering program
- decides on accreditation actions recommended by the EAC
- responds to complaint or appeal concerning the accreditation process
- accepts and recommends proposals for improvements on the provisions of CASEE and accreditation practices
ACBET reports periodically to PTC Board on its work, and when appropriate and necessary, recommends changes on accreditation policy, procedures, guidelines and criteria. ACBET is a multi-disciplinary, multi-organization, 17-member body. The incumbent PTC President is a member of ACBET. Three (3) members are nominated by the PTC President from among the former National Presidents of PTC or from among nationally-prominent and recognized engineering professionals, if no former presidents are available. The remaining members are elected from among three nominees by each of the thirteen EPOs. All nominees shall be elected and admitted to the ACBET upon approval by a 2/3 vote of the PTC BOT. The members of ACBET shall hold office for three (3) years, except for the first ACBET members whose terms shall be as follows:
- 3 former PTC Presidents – one shall hold office for 2 years; another one shall hold office for 3 years; and the third to hold office for 4 years. Any of the former PTC Presidents maybe re-nominated for another term of three (3) years.
- 13 EPO nominees – 4 shall hold office for 2 years; 4 shall hold office for 3 years, and 5 hold office for 4 years. EPO representatives may be re-nominated only for another term of three (3) years.
- The ACBET Chair shall be elected by the ACBET members from among the most seniors among them and shall hold office for the duration of his appointment as ACBET member, however, the remaining term of office should not be less than 2 years
